Gear units in a special agitator design

The agitator design is ideal for use with mixers, agitators, surface aerators, and kneaders. It is thus a perfect fit for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, chemical, food, beverage, recycling, environmental technology, paper, cellulose, and waste water industries.

With the special agitator design used in three highly successful standard gear unit series, SEW‑EURODRIVE covers almost every application for a wide variety of industries. For the helical gear units from SEW‑EURODRIVE, the RM.. series has long been available as a variant for mixer and agitator applications.

NEW to the portfolio are the two FM../FAM.. series, available as parallel-shaft helical gear units, and the KM../KAM.. series, available as helical-bevel gear units. In many cases, parallel-shaft and helical-bevel gear units are also used for this type of application. On the one hand, these gear variants enable more efficient utilization of existing spatial circumstances, while on the other hand, the agitator shafts with mixing element can be inserted directly into the hollow drive shafts being offered. Additional bearings can be dispensed with in many cases.

The permissible overhung loads range from 25 000 N to 176 500 N. The motors suitable for the sizes range in power from 0.12 kW to 90 kW. The maximum permitted gear unit output torque ranges from 820 Nm to 18 000 Nm.

These options are available for the agitator design:

  • Double oil seal on the output side for additional protection against leaks
  • Reinforced bearings also opposite the output side. These increase the permitted overhung load, particularly for high output speeds and low gear ratios
  • Grease nipple for further greasing of output shaft bearings
  • Drywell design with leak sensor prevents the product from being contaminated by leaking lubricant.

X agitator drives with expanded bearing distance

The X series agitator drives from SEW-EURODRIVE can be used wherever a high level of performance is required for stirring and mixing large quantities of liquid or paste-type substances, for example in the chemical industry, food industry, wastewater treatment, or in mining.

The X series agitator drives have been designed for application-specific loads:

  • For light loads:
    A model with a universal housing for helical gear units and bevel-helical gear units (2- to 4-stage) is available for the torque range between 6.8 and 475 kNm.
  • For medium and heavy loads:
    Two models are available in the 22 to 90 kNm torque range. These feature a rolling bearing design with increased bearing distances. It goes without saying that all of our drives are suitable for use in ATEX scenarios and can be combined with the standard options of “drywell” seal, pressure lubrication/bath lubrication, flange coupling, fan cooling, and foot- or flange-mounting.
    • The first model is available exclusively as a 3-stage helical gear unit. The thermal rating of this model has been increased thanks to the use of an optimized vertical housing with cooling fins, axial fans, etc.
    • The second model is available as 2- to 4-stage helical gear units and bevel-helical gear units. It is based on the combination of a universal housing with reinforced bearing design.
