20.10.22 • Jürgen Blickle, CEO of SEW-EURODRIVE, was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Bruchsal at the beginning of October. At a ceremony in Bruchsal Castle, Mayor Cornelia Petzold-Schick presented him with the city's highest possible honor. In the unique ambience of Bruchsal Castle, Jürgen Blickle accepted the honorary citizenship certificate in the company of a select audience with many companions.
Honorary citizenship is the highest possible honor bestowed by the city of Bruchsal. The decision to honor Mr. Jürgen Blickle with this certificate was taken unanimously by the Bruchsal municipal council.
Jürgen Blickle is an outstanding personality of the city due to his "unparalleled life and success story" and his "extraordinary social commitment to the people of Bruchsal", said former mayor Bernd Doll.
Despite the worldwide orientation and global success of SEW-EURODRIVE, Jürgen Blickle has always been committed to Bruchsal and has left his mark on the city with many supporting projects, said Cornelia Petzold-Schick. For him, the focus was always on people. With this honorary citizenship, the city of Bruchsal is showing him its respect "for what you have done for your hometown in the past and what you are still doing".
With entrepreneurial skill, Jürgen Blickle turned the company founded by his father Ernst Blickle into the world's leading manufacturer of drive technology and automation. According to OB Petzold-Schick, Blickle's decision in the direction of globalization and to establish a site in China was a very forward-looking one. "The expansion of SEW into a global player is to your credit."
In his acceptance speech, the CEO countered, "The success was essentially helped along by the employees. (...) I never wanted to be the boss. Then things turned out differently." Statements like these once again reinforce the words of former Lord Mayor Bernd Doll: "Despite his extraordinary social competence, Blickle had remained extraordinarily modest."
